KOMY/1340
began creating memories and magic back on
April 1, 1937,
when it debuted in Watsonville as KHUB — "The Hub Of The
Monterey Bay Area."
In November 1957, after twenty years on the air, KHUB
became KOMY. In 1963, KOMY
came under the care and stewardship of
Phil Rather, who
guided the station for nearly three decades. In 1983,
KOMY/1340 began broadcasting
Big Band music, and later became the area's home for the popular "Music Of Your Life"
network.
Today, KOMY/1340 has
returned to its roots, playing Big Bands and Popular Standards from
Frank Sinatra,
Tony Bennett,
Doris Day,
Bing Crosby,
Glenn Miller,
Count Basie,
Herb Alpert,
Mel Torme and all the
magical stars of the greatest era of music. Some call it
"Easy Listening" or "Middle of the Road," while others
refer to it as "Nostalgia." We call it, quite simply,
Memories and Magic!
Broadcasting from its historic beach-side studios in
Santa Cruz, KOMY/1340
blankets the entire Monterey Bay Area with its
solid thousand-watt signal,
bringing you the Memories and
Magic you love!

The magic didn't go away, though — it simply moved
down the radio dial to the new home for "Memories and
Magic," KOMY/1340 AM!
